As a university professor, I’ve spent years engaged in research that explores how people interact with emerging technologies—from AI systems to collaborative tools. My latest academic publication, which examines how users engage with AI-powered platforms, is now live in a peer-reviewed journal. You can read more about it here: https://steveschilhabel.com
But why does this matter to the Kimberly Area School District?
Because the skills that drive effective research—critical thinking, data analysis, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making—are the same ones that shape strong, responsive school boards. Whether it’s evaluating curriculum proposals, analyzing budget implications, or planning for technology integration, these capabilities help ensure we ask the right questions and make informed choices for our students.
Higher education and K-12 education are part of the same continuum. What we model in one should benefit the other. As someone who straddles both worlds, I bring a research-driven mindset that values curiosity, clarity, and collaboration—values that align with the mission of KASD.
I’m running for the Kimberly School Board because I believe in serving our community with integrity, thoughtful leadership, and a deep respect for learning at every level.
